About the Cotati Jazz Festival

This is the 30th Anniversary of the Cotati Jazz Festival and we are extremely proud to have reached this milestone. This jazz festival has always been a celebration of community and a reflection of our cool little town. This year’s theme is “Antiques, Pianos, and Jazz…Oh My!!” Our theme is a tribute to The Piano Project, an event presented by the Cotati Chamber of Commerce and The Cotati Arts Project, whose goal is to bring all kinds of art to Cotati.

From May 22 thru June 19, six unique pianos will be a part of the Cotati scene, begging people to literally come out and sing in our streets. These pianos have been hand-painted by seven local non-profit organizations and the people they serve. The reason for this project is to educate people about what these organizations do for our community.

All six pianos will be auctioned off on Father’s Day, June 20, at The Piano Drop Picnic at Larsen’s Feed on the corner of Highway 116 and Stony Point Road in Cotati. Bring your own picnic basket or buy food at the event, spread out a blanket and share an old-fashioned community picnic with us. The cost is $5.00 for adults and kids under 18 get in free!! There will be games like horseshoes, potato sack races, three-legged races, and pie-eating contests. And then we’re dropping a piano 120 feet from a crane! This performance art piece is meant to demonstrate what happens to a non-profit that slips through our fingers in these tough financial times.

We have a long history of music and art in Cotati and we ask you to support our upcoming events, including the Cotati Community Theatre in August, and The Sculpture Project which you will be hearing more about in coming months.

We hope that you enjoy the 30th anniversary of The Cotati Jazz Festival and come out for the Piano Drop Picnic. It is sure to go down in Sonoma County lore
